June 2020 Volunteer of the Month - Lucia
June’s volunteer of the month is our amazing Lucia! Although it is very obvious she has a LOT of responsibility with six children, she and her family have jumped into volunteering with Paw Patrol by fostering puppies, doing transport, walking dogs, and anything else they can to help out.
Lucia explains why she chooses to help out dogs in need: “I am a military spouse and have been blessed with six children. My husband arrived in the US a few years ago as a winner of the Diversity Visa Lottery, a program that offers lifetime visas to select people from around the world. He left his beloved parents, his fiancée (me), and came to the US. In pursuit of his American Dream, he joined the greatest Air Force in the world.
As a volunteer, I started a few months ago when I found out about Paw Patrol Dayton. Along with my kids, I love to take care of animals and I am so happy when a dog finds a forever home and getting to see the excitement in the new family’s faces. Fostering dogs takes a lot of dedication and time but being a volunteer makes me feel like I am making a difference. The dogs want love and my family has a lot of love to give ( and you can see the look in the animals’ faces- they are so appreciative).”
We are truly grateful to have this wonderful and dedicated family helping our dogs and we cannot say thank you enough for everything. You are truly an inspiration and an amazing role model to your children, Lucia! Thank you!
