December 2024 Volunteer of the Month - Toni
During the final month of the year, we want to say a giant thank you to one of our foster parents, Toni. Toni has fostered multiple dogs for us over the last year and we are very grateful!!! Here is a bit about Toni:
“Hi! I’m Toni and I have been fostering for about 20 years now. I have seen both wonderful and horrendous things in rescue. I have saved soooo many and lost some, too. The thing I get asked the most is “How do you do it? I could never do it. How do you let them go?” My answer is simple. Yes, it can sometimes be very difficult, as I love my fosters as if they were my own. However, when one leaves me, it also leaves a space in my home & my heart to help save another. I have always enjoyed animals more than people, due to their unconditional love. Being surrounded by them keeps me calm and content. I even went to school and got a veterinary assistant degree and worked in clinics for several years. (Not many even know this part!) I currently have 4 cats (and a porch kitty), along with 2 dogs of my own. My only child is grown and gone now, so her room has become the foster room. I am also a proud grandmama of 3 kitties and one perfect little chihuahua. Please enjoy a few pics of my lil freeloaders!”
