March 2021 Volunteer of the Month - The Newell Family
This month, we want to say thank you to the Newell family, our volunteers of the month. This family has jumped right into our Paw Patrol with both feet and we couldn’t be more happy to have them. A little about them in Aprils’ words:
“Hello! We are the Newell’s: Kevin, April, Grace & Ava. We just started fostering in November 2020. Fostering is something that we have always wanted to do. When we sold our first house many years ago, we began renting because we would move every couple years. When we finally landed in Springboro and bought our house, we knew it was time to start doing something important to help the poor souls in shelter’s find some furever homes! We all adore animals, they are our favorite people! We’d love to have a house full but, well, life prevents that. We have always had a soft spot for the shelter dogs & cats. My daughter, Grace, & I volunteered at the Humane Society when she was younger. We had so much fun doing adoption events, walking dogs, and socializing kitties! When we moved to Tennessee, they didn’t allow kids her & Ava’s age to volunteer. So rather than volunteering, we would just go in & visit the animals. We’d give them love & when they’d allow us, we’d play with & walk them. Now that we are no longer renting & the girls are older, we knew it was time to get more involved. Our daughters work so hard training, playing, & loving our fosters! We are so proud of their dedication! When I was asked to submit something for volunteer of the month, I couldn’t imagine not giving them credit for all they do. This is a family affair! I boss everyone around & I’m the spokesperson of the group but these girls are really the heart of the fostering in our home. Oh & we can’t forget our resident dog, Buddy, who loves all his new friends (especially the cats haha). He is such a great big brother & mentor. I chose Paw Patrol for us because I felt like they needed us. They do not have a building & 100% rely on fosters to get dogs & cats out of the shelters. We currently have our 3rd foster cat & 4th foster dog. It’s hard letting them go but it also fills my heart knowing that they are going to become part of a family that is going to love them forever.
Thanks again, Newell family. We hope you are with us for many more years to come!
