October 2019 Volunteer of the Month - Kym
This month we would like to take a moment to give thanks to Kym, one of our amazing volunteers! Kym does a variety of things for us, mainly to include being the lead processor on our adoption applications, training new volunteers, and riding some amazing bios for our adoptable dogs. Here is some info we recently learned about her:
“A little about me – I grew up in NE Ohio, lived my adult life in my adopted state of Texas, and returned home to my beloved Ohio five years ago after my grandson was diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately, my Grandson is doing great and fills this Gigi’s heart with incredible joy. Add my four fur-baby rescues to the mix and I’m one happy pack leader.
I’ve always tried to surround myself with people with positive energy, a kind heart and a passion for making a positive impact on the world around them. Combine that with my love for dogs since I was a child, and it’s easy to see why I love being a volunteer for Paw Patrol of Dayton. The passion and compassion in the hearts of all those who volunteer for Paw Patrol Dayton is simply awe-inspiring.
While I haven’t met every volunteer in person, each and every day I see the untiring and often heroic efforts of so many that readily answer the call for help to rescue another of God’s creatures from a life less than they deserve. There is no animal with a kinder, purer heart than a dog and it can be heartbreaking to see the conditions and situations many of the dogs have had to endure. Thanks to the incredible hearts and giving spirit of the Paw Patrol Dayton rescue group, I’ve watched the transformation and beautiful rebirth of so many dogs that some once considered throw-away. What the many volunteers know and prove time and again, is all these dogs really needed was the love and care from a human with a heart as pure and kind as their own.
Volunteering for Paw Patrol Dayton is rewarding beyond measure. Knowing that I have helped a dog in need in some small way does my heart good every single day. And I constantly ask myself the same question most rescue volunteers ask – who is really rescuing who?"
