Chris and Emily are two of our newer foster parents, but they have already done a great job saving the lives of many dogs. They jumped right in with both feet and haven’t complained once! Chris and Emily are wonderful team players and go above and beyond for their foster dogs. In order to get to know why they chose to start fostering, here is a little bit about each of them:
Chris says: I’ll start things off with being completely honest. I did not want to foster dogs. Not because I didn’t want to help, but because I knew I’d fall in love with every single dog we foster. Just the thought of them being adopted made me sad. My wife (Emily) and I were always talking about fostering dogs, until one night at a local restaurant. We got into an argument about fostering and I finally gave in. Nothing has made me happier than that decision! Our second foster dog (Dusty) we saved from being euthanized and that feeling… I can’t explain. Just to see that look in their eyes, knowing you just saved them. It’s the greatest feeling in the world! Now, I’m not going to lie, loving your foster and watching him/her get adopted – it’s tough. It honestly feels like you’re giving your child away, but on the other hand you just saved their life and took them out of a bad situation. That feeling right there is why we love fostering! “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.”
Emily says: Animals hold a special place in my heart and if I could save every animal in the world, I would. That’s why I got into fostering, I was able to make a difference in that animals life. I was able to save them from a life of abuse, neglect and possibly death and instead give them a life full of kisses, belly rubs and extra treats. Saying goodbye to our fosters is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. To say it was easy would be a lie and I cry every time one of our fosters gets adopted. But it is so rewarding seeing these pups with their new families and even though it’s hard to say goodbye, it is one of the best feelings in the world.
We greatly appreciate all the hard work Chris and Emily have already done and we hope they stick around for many years to come to keep saving deserving dogs!!
