June 2017 Volunteer Spotlight

Faith is our June volunteer of the month.  Faith is one of our dedicated fosters and she always tries to help out where she can.  Recently, we asked Faith to tell us why she fosters for Paw Patrol and this is what she had to say:

I’m 45, raised 2 sons on my own, and now a Mamaw.  I have 5 dogs of my own. I rescued Rosco after his owners didn’t want him anymore and threw him out in an ice storm.  A lady found him but couldn’t afford his care so I took him in.  Not long after I took in Rosco, my 13-year-old Rottweiler (Brandi) passed away.  Sophie was my next rescue, when her owner couldn’t house train her and wanted her gone, so I drove almost an hour to go get her. I had her potty trained within a week. I then went to an animal shelter looking for a Rottweiler and saw a skinny boxer just looking at everyone. She didn’t make a sound, just sat there looking at people walking by. I took her out to see how she was with Sophie and they were automatic best friends, so she came home with me that day.  Next came Brutus. He lived with a young couple that wasn’t allowed to have two dogs at their apartment and I took him in.  Although they said he was rottweiler and shepherd mix, I’m pretty sure he’s beagle and dachshund. Last came Zena.  I friend of mine knew I wanted another Rottweiler since Brandi had passed and he gave me Zena for my birthday 2 years ago.

I’ve always loved all animals and try to help all the homeless and strays.  I started fostering dogs after a friend told me about fostering where I use to work. I fostered for my vet, Joseph’s Legacy, and BARC for many years.  My kids weren’t happy when I brought another dog in, but they soon got over it.  I took a break from fostering for a couple years when I first became a grandma and spent most weekends with my granddaughters.  Then I saw a picture on Paw Patrol’s site asking if anyone would be willing to a foster a chihuahua (Jake).  I said I would and came home with 2 dogs (Jake and Oscar). That started it all over for me…

We are very thankful to have Faith as a part of our organization and for the commitment she has to rescuing animals.  Thank you, Faith!!
