April 2019 Volunteer Spotlight

We would like to take an opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to Jessica, our April volunteer of the month! Here is a bit about her:
As a native Daytonian, I recently moved back to the area after spending my post-college years in Washington DC. Upon my return, I knew I wanted to get involved in an organization that gave back to my community. I’ve always had a passion for all things furry, so helping animals in need was the perfect fit for me. I followed Paw Patrol’s journey for a while and was incredibly impressed that they take in dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and backgrounds. They also take in dogs with special medical needs and even dogs that need a hospice home to live out the rest of their days in a loving, comforting environment.

I began as a volunteer helping out at fundraising events and doing follow-ups for adopted Paw Patrol pups. I have also recently started fostering dogs as well, much to the dismay of my old grumpy cats. I love reading the beautiful follow-up messages we get from adopters about their new furry family members. They are an incredibly uplifting testament to the amazing work Paw Patrol is doing. Being a foster has given me a first-hand look at the value that foster-based rescues are providing to dogs and adopters in our community. A shelter can be a very scary place for dogs and fostering allows us to truly get to know the personality of each dog and provide them with a safe haven for as long as it takes for them to find their perfect furever homes.

Paw Patrol is a top-notch organization with incredibly dedicated volunteers and I am so blessed to be a part of it as it continues to grow and help more dogs in need in our community.

Jessica has taken on a variety of roles throughout the organization and we are truly appreciative for people like her that are willing to take time out of their busy life to help dogs in need. Thank you so much for all you do!
